Meet the Founder

Adriana Alejandre founded Latinx Therapy in 2018. With the launch of the podcast & directory, the concept of Latinx Therapy went viral and global. The work is done internationally through wellness coaching programs for the public to create accessibility to healing, and education & training for mental health professionals of color. Adriana's mission is to elevate voices & create communities.

Adriana was a single, mother from a young age. Her Mexican father & Guatemalan mother encouraged her to finish her degree at UCSB. She struggled with untreated postpartum and MDD & after receiving help, she was motivated to become a therapist. Her son is now 10 years old & Adriana focuses on becoming a better mother everyday while mentoring teen moms.

Adriana has spoken for many organizations, agencies, universities and schools. She uses her story as a vessel to destigmatize mental health & therapy in Latinx and marginalized communities.

Adriana is a licensed psychotherapist (LMFT)  in the state of California who specializes in EMDR and trauma-informed practices. Her work focuses on ego-state therapy, inner child and somatic work. She owns a group practice called EMDR and Trauma Therapy, Inc located in Burbank, CA. The groups she offers on this page are not therapy services. She practices as a consultant & trauma coach.

Words from Students:

Through this workshop I gained valuable insight on the cultural nuances of my communication patterns that I didn’t even realize existed! As an empath and caretaker I have struggled for many years to learn how to communicate my needs to feel supported. This course has provided me with tangible tools and beautiful lessons on how to be compassionately assertive-a term I didn’t even know existed but surely identify with now. Slowly and consistently, I have practiced the skills I gained and now I feel more confident in my ability to ask for what I need and resolve conflicts without shrinking myself. Sure, it’s still scary but I feel better knowing I’m not alone in this journey of growth.

Communication Skills Workshop: Level 1
It was great to be in community with other small business owners and creatives. Hearing about their struggles and what people were doing to get their businesses started was helpful. It allowed me to see that I am not alone in my struggle with mental health but also the creative energy that I have towards building a small business.
